Work has been going on behind the scenes for several months to help launch a partnership that it is hoped can be the most impactful across the entire organisation.

Workshops and webinars will be delivered on an annual basis to management, coaches, parents and young players across all levels of the club.

Every parent and coach within the club will be given access to a customised WWPIS/Cincinnati United Platform whilst the new intake of Under 8’s will be given their copy of ‘Our Sporting Journey’, an exciting resource for them to work through as they immerse themselves in the world of soccer.

Sports Performance Parenting is a global bestseller supporting those parents of competitive young athletes looking to help their young people fulfil their potential both in and out of their sport.

Cincinnati United have also created their own version of this book and see it as an integral part of supporting their families alongside the live workshops and webinars that they will be given access to.

CEO WWPIS Gordon MacLelland said, ‘This is such an exciting partnership for us. High quality relationships in sporting environments between management, coaches, parents and young players can be difficult to achieve particularly with the wide range of motivations from different parties.

They do not happen by chance by just providing some resources for them either. This whole package of support helping to align messaging and drive some dynamic change within the context of the club is such an inspiring thing to be a part of.’

Hugh Seyfarth, Director of Coaching, Cincinnati United said, ‘Working with Gordon and WWPIS is an absolute game-changer for our club. Gordon truly understands the complexities of the youth sports environment and offers real-world tools that bring coaches and parents onto the same team. When we all work better together—coaches, parents, and the club—the biggest winner is always the player. That’s what this partnership is all about.’

Our Sporting Journey Series Launches Worldwide https://www.staging.parentsinsport.co.uk/2022/01/31/our-sporting-journey-series-launches-worldwide/ https://www.staging.parentsinsport.co.uk/2022/01/31/our-sporting-journey-series-launches-worldwide/#respond Mon, 31 Jan 2022 10:51:52 +0000 https://www.parentsinsport.co.uk/?p=7787 The ‘Our Sporting Journey Series’ is a fun and interactive experience for children and their parents as they embark on the early stages of their sporting journey. It has been created by the teams at Working with Parents in Sport and Live, Learn, Love Sport.

The books provide an opportunity for children and parents to regularly reflect on their sporting experience and put children and the children’s voice at the centre of the experience, whilst acknowledging the vital role that parents and carers play in ensuring that children gain the most from their sporting experiences through their behaviours and the positive interactions that can take place.

The books all have plenty of fun activities for children, encourage plenty of interaction between children and their parents, require plenty of parental involvement whether that be in having positive conversations, playing in the garden or helping to stick in the pictures that will allow everyone to build up a memory book that will last a lifetime.

With no online version available the hope is that the books will provide the opportunity for children to enjoy and immerse themselves in their sporting experience whilst countering the increased amount of time traditionally now being spent on screens and devices.

The series covers 13 different sports, and this number will continue to grow with each book covering two sporting years within each age category. The age categories are Under 5, Under 7 and Under 9.

We also have an 18 month to 3-year-old product which is for multi-sports activity, can be adapted to be sports specific and is already in production for a number of preschool franchises.

This month sees the official launch of Rugby, Football, Cricket, Gymnastics and Gaelic Games.

March and April 2022 will see the launch of Swimming, Hockey, Netball, Basketball and Tennis.

July will see the launch of Badminton, Judo and Golf as well as any sports who wish to approach us to help design a sport specific product for them.

The sports planned for the series to date are:

  • Badminton
  • Basketball
  • Cricket
  • Football
  • Gaelic Games
  • Golf
  • Gymnastics
  • Hockey
  • Judo
  • Netball
  • Rugby
  • Swimming
  • Tennis

Each of the series build progressive physical literacy skills and skill development in each sport whilst promoting huge amounts of ‘play’ opportunities. There are activities and challenges for children to do at home and the books encourage them to get their parents involved with plenty of games for the yard, garden and park.

The books also provide opportunities to add personal photos and highlights, messages from coaches and parents at the end of the season and on completion of the book children and parents will have a scrapbook memory of their time involved in sport.

The books have already generated a huge amount of interest with customised options available for NGBS and individual clubs allowing them to resource their entire sports whilst raising the profiles of individual club within their own communities.

To order your copies please click here.

For any sporting organisations wishing to resource their clubs and explore the customised options available then please email the team at workingwithparentsinsport@gmail.com.

This new partnership sees both parties come together to provide the young children and parents, who support didi classes, the opportunity to purchase customised ‘Our Sporting Journey’ books.

The books have been tailored for those specifically involved in the didi rugby programme and will encourage plenty of activity and interaction away from the classes, thus furthering their sporting education.

The ‘Our Sporting Journey’ series for didi minis (18 months to 3 years old), didi juniors (3 to 4 years old) and didi seniors (5 to 6 years old) incorporates two sporting years in each book with the cricket versions of the books likely due out later this year.

‘Our Sporting Journey’ is a series of interactive books for children, putting them at the heart of the sporting experience. They allow them to have plenty of fun, grow as people both on and off the field and immerse themselves in their sporting experience as they progress through their sporting journey.

They involve plenty of parental involvement, whether that be in having positive conversations, playing in the garden or helping to stick in the pictures that will allow everyone to build up a memory book that will last a lifetime.

didi rugby founder and CEO Vicky Macqueen said it was a very exciting collaboration with WWPIS.

‘We fully believe that our values and ethos as didi rugby are fully in-line with the wonderful work that WWPIS do.  We are all keen to get children and parents involved, at an early age, of realising the benefits that are to be gained from being physically active. This partnership will enable us to influence more families to get involved in physical activities from the age of our early didi classes (18 months) upwards.

WWPIS have being doing some amazing work and, like us, are keen to promote healthy and active lifestyles, so we are delighted to be able to link up with them on this project.’

Gordon MacLelland (CEO of WWPIS) said: ‘It is really exciting to be working with the didi team. It is so important that children have the very best experiences of sport from the youngest ages, so they remain involved in sport and physical activity throughout their childhoods and into adulthood. Vicky and her didi rugby team are doing excellent work in this area and we hope the support that we can provide will further enhance their programmes.’
